Caifanes is an Spanish rock band that blends an interesting mix of gothic rock and post punk music set to Spanish lyrics to create a sound that has often been compared to the sounds of King Crimson. Comprised of members Saul Hernandez, Alejandro Marcovich, Sabo Romo, Alfonso Andre and Diego Herrera, Caifanes has created a total of 4 studio albums, 2 compilations and 1 live album since forming as a band in 1987. Caifanes achieved most of their fame during the late 80's and early 90's and broke up for the years between 1995 and 2011, but in 2011 they made their stage debut for the first time in years at the popular annual music festival known as Coachella. When Caifanes plays in concert while on tour they are known for breaking the usual Mexican band stereotypes by wearing all black clothing and makeup, and for these reasons Caifanes will forever be known as a a band that broke the norms of an often conservative genre of music.
