Originally formed in 1972 by brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, the band Van Halen is one of the top selling rock and roll bands of all time. Since the 1978 release of their debut album Van Halen, Van Halen has sold over 80 million records throughtout the world and has had the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. Throughout Van Halen's 30 plus year career they have not only been known for creating chart topping records like 1984's album 1984, 1988's OU812 and 1991's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, but they have also been quite well known for the drama surrounding the exits and entrances of band member David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone.

Regardless of the ever changing lead singer position in Van Halen, they have played in concert to millions of adoring fans on both their own tours and on the popular Monster of Rock Festival in both 1984 and 1988. The year 2012 is going to be exciting for Van Halen when they will not only be back in the studio to make a new album with popular frontman David Lee Roth, but they will also embark on a reunion tour.
