The Maccabees are a South London, England based indie rock band that has been creating music since the 2007 release of the album Colour It In. Comprised of 6 members that include Orlando Weeks, Hugo, Will and Felix White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle, The Maccabees came up for their name by picking a random word out of the Bible but regardless of the religious implications of the band's name, their songs often conjure up atheistic imagery. Since 2007's Colour It In, The Maccabees have released 2 more albums, including 2009's Wall of Arms and 2012's Given to the Wild. The Maccabees first took to the concert stage as the opening band for fellow indie rockers Bloc Party during their 2007 tour, and since then have played both solo shows and as contributors on the festival circuit.
