Animal Collective es un grupo de músicos experimentales originario de Baltimore, Maryland, EE.UU. Está conformado por Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb) y Geologist (Brian Weitz). Las grabaciones bajo el nombre de Animal Collective pueden incluir contribuciones de cualquiera de sus miembros, puesto que la alineación no es constante. Aunque la banda se clasifica como psych folk o noise rock, es difícil definir el sonido de Animal Collective ya que experimentan con diversas corrientes e ideas a cada álbum. El grupo fundó el sello discográfico Paw Tracks, en el que han publicado parte de su material, más el de Ariel Pink, Terrestrial Tones o The Peppermints.
